Yoga for Vedic and Ayurvedic Coaches
Yoga for Ayurveda Counselors is a short but sweet elective. Experiential with labs offerred virtually. Nadi and chakra scan lab offerred in person (optional)
Integrative Yoga Tools for Ayurvedic Health Coaches Format:
Theory + Live Online Virtual Practice Sessions (4–6 sessions, 90 minutes each)
Target Audience: Coaches who want to safely incorporate basic yoga assessments and practices into client sessions (with clear scope-of-practice boundaries).

Lesson Objectives

Lesson 1: Scope of Practice, Ethics, and Role of the Ayurvedic Health Coach in Yoga

Understand the legal and ethical boundaries for Ayurvedic Health Coaches when using yoga tools.

Differentiate between coaching, teaching basic practices, and when to refer clients to a certified yoga therapist or medical professional.

Identify contraindications and red flags that require immediate referral.
Lesson 2: Introduction to Nadis and Prana in Ayurveda and Yoga

Explain the concept of nadis (Ida, Pingala, Sushumna) and their relationship to prana and doshas.

Describe the role of prana vayus in health and how imbalances manifest in clients.

Recognize common signs of nadi imbalance observable during client intake (no hands-on pulse diagnosis).

Lesson 3: Basic Nadi Scan for Coaches (Observation + Client Self-Report)

Learn a non-diagnostic, observational “Nadi Awareness Scan” using breath pattern observation, nostril dominance testing, and client self-reporting.

Practice guiding clients through simple at-home tests to identify dominant nadis and basic imbalances.

Interpret findings in the context of dosha and refer appropriately when needed.
Lesson 4: The Nadi & Chakra System in Ayurveda and Yoga

Outline the seven main chakras, their locations, associated elements, doshas, and common emotional/physical manifestations of imbalance.

Outline the nadis, different types of nadis, and the connection of nadis to meridians

Understand how chakras relate to nadis, marmas, and koshas.

Identify client symptoms or patterns that may indicate chakra imbalance during coaching sessions.

Lesson 5 : Selected Breathing Techniques (Pranayama) and Simple Yoga Practices for Dosha/Chakra Balance

Learn three foundational pranayamas: Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril), Ujjayi, and Kapalabhati (with modifications and contraindications).

Learn 3–5 simple breath-centered practices or subtle movements suitable for coaching sessions (e.g., chakra beeja mantra breathing, gentle spinal warm-ups).

Match specific pranayamas to common dosha and chakra imbalances observed in clients.
Final Integration Session (Virtual Practice Lab)
Lab : Nadi Lab and Chakra Scan for Coaches (Interview + Guided Self-Assessment)

Master a client-friendly chakra assessment and/or. Nadi assessment questionnaire and guided meditation for self-scan.

Practice facilitating a virtual Nadi related to chakra awareness session where clients identify areas of blockage or overactivity.

Learn to summarize findings in simple, empowering language and create basic lifestyle recommendations.

Conduct mock client sessions combining intake, nadi observation, chakra questionnaire, and recommendation of one appropriate breathing practice.

Practice clear referral language for complex cases requiring a yoga therapist.

Receive feedback and create a personal “Yoga Tools Reference Guide” for ongoing coaching use.
By the end of this course, Ayurvedic Health Coaches will confidently use observation-based nadi and chakra assessments, teach a small set of safe breathing techniques virtually, and know exactly when and how to refer clients to qualified yoga therapists for deeper therapeutic work.
